Lucid dreaming as a therapy for emotional control
Lucid dreaming activates certain parts of the brain that work in the conscious state as memories recorded and analytical tasks. A lucid dream arises when a person, while dreaming, is aware that the experience is a dream. A higher level of lucid dreaming is when the dreamer can take control over different aspects of the dream such as actions, persons, environment, feelings, etc.
Once the brain has developed de ability to be aware while dreaming, and even control the dreams, a new door opens to manage your brain and mind to control emotions and reactions while conscious in a more detailed way. Hence, training yourself for lucid dreaming will help many aspects of your life, and it is easier than you could ever imagine. First of all, before mastering in lucid dreaming, it is important to regulate the sleep routines. Start from doing always the same activities in the same order before going to bed, and most importantly at the same times every day. For example, 8pm have dinner, 9pm brush teeth and get in bed to read a book, and 10pm get ready to sleep. Once the brain has been conditioned to follow a sleeping routine, develop the habit of observation. Be aware of the environment, when you realize that things do not look normal or familiar, for example there is people you don’t see regularly, places unfamiliar, and uncommon feelings, most probably you are already sleeping. Getting to the point where you have learned to identify a dream, you can consider that you are officially a lucid dreamer.
The next step is to focus on the story of your dream. If you are fully aware that you are in a dream, with practice and little by little you will realize that you can change your dream or even wake up if you are in the middle of a nightmare, it means that you are actually controlling your mind. It works just the same way when we are conscious, even though we cannot change or control what happens in the world, once we have the control of our minds, we can definitely control our emotions and reactions. A controlled mind, will result in a better life as you will be able to channelize your bad feelings into positive actions, and keep yourself together no matter how stressful the situations are.
