Healing comes in many forms as do illnesses and ailments. The ways that the illnesses and ailments affect us could be physically, emotionally, psychologically, or socially. Whatever the effect, you must treat it and heal. How you decide to treat and heal illness is a personal decision based on your beliefs and understandings. Do you go to the medical doctor for advice? Do you visit your religious leader for prayer? Do you seek advice online medical sites? Or do you believe in spiritual healing?
What is spiritual healing? It is an alternative medicine. Many confuse spiritual healing and faith healing. However, spiritual healing does not have a religious affiliation to any denomination.Many believe spiritual healing helps in different ways. Spiritual healing is believed to cure illnesses for some. For others, it supports the coping of one’s illness or ailment.
What does Spiritual healing do? It heals the spiritual body. The spiritual body consist of the:
- Physical body – The body that you live and die in.
- Mind – It controls your thinking.
- Energy body – It is not seen. It is your aura.
- Ego/personality – It represents your likes, dislikes, wants and things you do not want.
- Soul – It exists before and after birth.
Spiritual healing focuses and affects different areas. It is notjust healing your spirit. According to the Spiritual Science Research Foundation, the spiritual healing principles consist of:
- Self-Healing
- Healing Chants (Chanting the name of God for health)
- Nyas (Removal of inefficiencies from the body)
- Removing negative energy
- Divine sounds for spiritual healing
- Healing using objects (Use of holy water, holy ash, incense, etc.)
- Healing by others
Spiritual healing can come through self-healing or healing by another person. The person is called a spiritual healer. He or she is used as a pathof healing light and energy. The light and energy flow through the spiritual healer to benefit the person in need of a cure. The spiritual healer may focus on one or two areas of the spiritual body; however, the healing affects all parts of the spiritual body.
Based on information from The Permanente Journal, Summer 2005, two-thirds of Americans have belief in supernatural healing. Sixty-six percent of Americans believe in the power of meditation, prayer and spiritual healing. Choosing spiritual healing is a very personal choice. Always consult a doctor before making a decision.
